Vern Buchanan emerged victorious from another bruising election, winning an eighth term in District 16 after defeating Margaret Good by double digits in a contentious and expensive contest between two candidates who trashed each other while preaching comity and bipartisanship.

Buchanan won by 11 percentage points, or 53, votes. Buchanan highlighted areas where he was worked with the opposing party, including on animal rights legislation and to oppose drilling for oil off the coast of Florida.
